Neil joined Wear Referrals in August 2016 as the Head of Orthopaedics.

Neil graduated from Bristol in 2001 and worked in primary care practice for three years before returning to the University of Bristol undertaking one year internship and four year residency positions in orthopaedics and neurosurgery sponsored by Intervet-Schering-Plough. In 2009 he was awarded the Leslie Vaughan prize by the BVOA and a Mark S Bloomberg Award by the Veterinary Orthopaedic Society and in 2012, an ACVS Foundation Outstanding Resident Award for research work on canine elbow dysplasia. He was awarded the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 2011 and became a RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) the same year.

Neil has lectured both nationally and internationally, has published over 30 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and written several book chapters. He is on the review board for the Journals: Veterinary Surgery, Veterinary and Comparative Orthopaedics & Traumatology and The Journal of Small Animal Practice. He initiated the canine elbow replacement program at the University of Bristol and is a past Scientific Chairman of the BVOA. In 2012 Neil was awarded a Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He is also an examiner for the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Orthopaedics.

Neil has lectured internationally both in Europe and the USA at BSAVA, BVOA, VOS and ESVOT. He is also a past scientific secretary for the BVOA executive committee. He is certified by BioMedtrix to perform cemented, cementless, hybrid Universal Total Hip replacement as well as Nano and Micro hip, TATE elbow, and Total Knee replacement surgeries.
