Our Cardiology service is headed by Brian Love. This service is for patients with known heart disease, patients with suspected heart disease, chest disease or lung disease. We will also see cases with periodic collapse and exercise induced weakness.

Diagnostic procedures will be carried out after careful initial assessment during a consultation. Further diagnostic tests include blood tests, thoracic radiographs, electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) including spectral & colour flow Doppler. Wear Referrals can also provide 24hr ECG monitoring (Holter) for investigation of episodic collapse/weakness and for the diagnosis and monitoring of treatment of cardiac arrhythmias

Some congenital defects (like a PDA) can be treated surgically by our Soft Tissue Surgery service. They will also treat patients with pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart) and surgical thoracic and lung disease (like lung tumours). Our Internal Medicine service provides further bronchoscopic investigation (using a camera) of chronic airway disease and for removal of inhaled foreign bodies.
